interesting hue on this Lake Placid Blue Jazz Bass

I had a ‘71 LPB Jazz that turned almost that color - a little less green. Removing the pickguard was shocking indeed! I can verify that tobacco tar had taken up permanent residence. Even after many smokeless years, the headstock still smelled like an ashtray! Also, Fender’s “clear coat” tends to yellow over time. You could see the difference where the finish was worn away - clear coat, blue, white primer. Wish I still had it to show y’all, but at least it ended up in good hands.

Oh man. Lovely turquoise LPB. I’m no expert, but the color looks very even, almost as if someone took care to expose it evenly (to whatever it was exposed to, haha). Thanks for sharing.

There are a few similar examples in Geddy’s big beautiful book of bass, plus a few Gibsons in Pelham Blue with similar aging. Actually, I think a jazz bass in Pelham Blue, with black pg, would be very handsome…
