I've used chorus pedals a few times in my musical journey. This week, I have been at the Warwich Bass Camp in Germany and one of the profs used chorus every time he played, but used it so subtlety it too me a good wile to figure it out.
Helmet Hatter was the prof and he used chorus into two combos getting the stereo effect. He used a chorus pedal with all of the controls just about turned off. You had to identify that there was an effect being used but it was not set to sound like traditional chorus.
I work with an acoustic guitar player as house music at two different pubs. I'm going to pick us a stereo pedal and try it out. I think the effect could give a nice subtle broad tone to my bass, supporting the guitar.
Just wanted to share this.
Cheers
