Interviewing Bassists Stories part 2

Looks like you had a great time despite your illness, I'm happy for you :)

But *** kind of cable is Scott using there? Looks like an early 90s phone cable! :D
If it ain't broke...

I wasn't able to see his pedals. The place was packed like a Tokyo subway car. At some point I'll ask him what he uses.

Maybe Bass Player will let me interview him.

(I crack myself up.)

If you look at some of the Mother Hips videos that have been linked here, the guitar players use them, too. They were fairly common in the '60's and '70's (I had them when I started on bass); supposedly less likely to tangle. But are they any good for metal.....?

In celebration of seeing the spectacular photo of Scott Thunes and me that'll go into the book, I'd like to announce my engagement to my long-time girlfriend.

We're going to be married this afternoon.

As you can see, I'm doing fine. Mentally, I mean.

Although I was able to turn in my manuscript on time, the editor I hired (for a huge sum of money) didn't meet the deadline. He screwed me.

I realized by three weeks before the deadline that this was going to happen, so I edited the thing as best I could, but Meniere's disease causes "brain fog," which is exacerbated by stress.

No publishing houses today have proofreading services, and I've just found another frigging typo in the manuscript I've submitted.

So: I need nine forum members who are each willing to proofread one section of the book. You will be reading a PDF file of about 35 pages. It'll be first come, first serve.

Please send me a PM with your e-mail address, your real name, and a mailing address so I can send you a copy of the book when it comes out.

Couple of caveats: This is the agreement you'll accept:

"By agreeing to proofread this section of the manuscript for Ghosts and Ballyhoo: Memoirs of a Failed L.A. Music Journalist, by Thomas Wictor, to be published by Schiffer Books, Ltd., you also agree to not distribute, disseminate, publish, or copy this material in any way.

"If you violate this agreement, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

The second caveat is that I'm withholding the final part so that anyone who volunteers for this mission won't have the book spoiled for him or her. You won't be reading the ending. I'm also withholding the photo sections and captions.

The sooner we can do this, the better.

Thanks again.

Still have five more parts to parcel out.

Please remember to include your full name and address in either your PM or in an e-mail to me after I send you the part to proofread.

You'll get a copy of the finished book in exchange for helping me out.

And to make it easier on us both, could you please send all your corrections at once? Thanks.

Damn, that sucks. I was very happy for you that you had an editor lined up that you liked. I see so much poor editing out there these days, especially in owner's manuals  . I used to do a bit of tech writing myself as I'm one of the rare EE's who is literate :smug: .
