Inverter Generators redux

how large a system have you managed to run on a Honda eu2000i or a pair of those or on a single eu3000i ?

I've done a ton of gigs on a WhisperWatt and other than pilot error, no issues. Very little experience with the Honda genies though.

Did one years ago on whatever the equivalent of the 2000i was back then. Single stack, not much PA, in a tent.
They ran 2 lines from it (I don't think is was even 12/3), but due to "noise".. kept it 100' (or more) from the tent. .
Voltage drop killed us and kept tripping the amps.. it was ugly.

There was no "equivalent" to a 2000i "way back then". They are far more capable than a cheap 2KW noisemaker.

I'd get the Yamaha equivalent these days - it has a fuel shutoff that the Honda lacks .

Eu3000 has the fuel shutoff. Not sure if recent 2000i has it or not.

The quiet inverter genies seem to be gaining use over at Prosound.Web. I think there is enough market here to justify the investment. These modern units are quiet enough to run side stage back 20 feet so no 100' extension cord required.
