Hola brochachos, I have a bit of a dilemma. I am stringing this off from my last thread in the Basses subforum, "Peavey Grind Bass Problems?". From the discussion with some of my fellow TB members, I have come to the conclusion that the problem with my Peavey Grind 5 involves either the pickups or the electronics. Really it could have been anything like bad strings, warped neck, bad cable, or bad amp, but is seems that from my tests it was directly from the electronics system.
I know that Peavey Grinds generally have a very low output, but considering that I only paid $100 for this bass, it seems that I would still have come out with a good deal if either a) get new pickups, or b) get a new wiring system so it can run active pickups (if that's possible; I'm not really a tech guy with bass).
So, TB'ers, what shall be the verdict? Should I either get new passive pickups that have a bigger output, or should I get the wiring redone for some active pickups?
Also, recommendations for pickups or wiring systems would be well appreciated.
