iphone effects?

did a search and only found talk about metronome, 4 track recorders and tuners.

looked on itunes and found a chourus and echo effects, but no mention about if you just use the phone mic and listen to the headphones or how it works.

anybody find anything and how it works?

ishred lets you strum a iphone guitar.....looking to use my iphone like a pedal some how.

I've played with that theremin app (well SOME theremin app) and it's pretty worthless. Aside from the fact it is just as difficult as a real theremin to play, it's sound generation is awful, you get one wave, no harmonic content. And no one wants to listen to that.

I suggest BeBot for theramin type synths. It's free (I think) and incredible. You can choose scales, edit synth parameters to quite a deep level, and show notes lines sto make it easier to play. Even Jordan Rudess of DT uses it!

Others music apps of worthy mention are ishred, which allows you to programme chords or scales and tap and strum the strings. You can also add different fx and amp channels.

There's also ThumbJam. This one has lots of high quality instruments that you play like the theremin/kaoss pad apps. But you can assign scales, loop riffs and use the accelerometer to effect the sounds, like pitch bends, or vibrato. Quite amazing to see in action.

Youtube is your friend before buying!

PS, I realise you're after effect apps, but I don't know of any. However, there is the Peterson iStrobosoft tuner that is so worth getting. You can get a headphone port adapter from their website that allows you to plug a guitar or bass into the iPhone rather than use the device's mic. So I wonder if this adapter can be used with other apps?

But can you have your phone in vibrate mode and still use these or do you have to leave your ringer on during a gig? On the other hand, you could phone in your bass line from a remote location.

Simply put the phone into airplane/flight mode which turn off all communications protocols. Besides, you should have your phone turned off or off the stage if you're gigging anyway. No call can be that important that it can't wait till I've finished playing!

While I 100% disagree with you about calls... Airplane mod works great.

And yes, some calls are worth leaving a gig for. Labor/birth, dying reletive, car accident, house fire, kid in the hospital...

Ok point well made. But one of the most annoying things to hear at a gig that make a band look really amateurish is hearing someones phone signal pips coming through their amp or PA. Stick in in your gig bag off stage.

Hell, we coped for years without mobiles, I'm sure we can all cope without being tied to it for a couple of hours. Sadly we've become a world that's a slave to technology.

The hardest part for some people is not answering when they're not actually available, driving, climbing a ladder, etc.

At times I think the telephone is an incredibly rude device. I mean, if you're talking to someone face to face, and another person comes up to you, butts into your conversation and starts talking to you, you'd tell them to go away and speak to them later.

Most people though will stop what ever they're doing, even in the middle of a conversation to speak to whoever is calling them. You could just let it ring and call back!
