iPods...too fragile...battery doesn't work etc. etc.

Supposedly, Li-Ion & Nickel-Metal Hydride alleviate some of these symptoms.
For their portables radios, Motorola has come up with something called "Smart/Impress" Technology. The Smart Charger only charges the Smart Battery to that percentage which is required for a full charge...or sumthin like that.

The battery is Li-Ion, just like laptop batteries. Even laptop batteries lose the ability to hold as much juice over time compared to when they were brand new. It's all about the chemicals. Sooner or later they just don't give up the ions like they used to.

Apple did it so that someone else wouldn't do it first. That's all.

I'm sure they could have come out with the smaller iPod from the getgo, but that's what strategy and planned obsolescence is all about.

I have an Ipod 40 gig, my brother has a shuffel, my girlfriend has a 20, my brothers fiance has a mini. They are all incredible! I've been the only one with problems. Why's that you say? I left my first ipod directly in the sun in a truck with the sun beating on it everyday, I dropped it numerous times and even sat on it. I also disconnected it from my pc a few times when the light said "Do not disconnect." They kindly replaced it. Then I got another one, woops! Girflriend washed it in the washing machine, which of course is a big no no. Apple replaced it again. I'm on my 3rd ipod and I'm loving it! Apples service has been wonderful. I don't know what these people do to not get replacements ordered.

Also: It's not like I had to wait 4-5 weeks for my new ipods. Saturday night I call, package arrives tuesday, on friday I have a new ipod.

As for the ipod nano? They're replacing the screens. When Apple has a problem they admit it, and now they're fixing it. You can't ask for more.

Bruce can....he won't be happy until he has his portable symphony orchestra to play undigitised and uncompressed music to him directly. In addition, he wouldn't even go for that unless it could be shown that it was "uncool".

i have a 60GB photo with almost 30G of songs and about 2G of photos...

i bought it less than a week before the iPod Video came out :hmm:

had a mini before this one, whose battery life sucked balls (less than 20 minutes) after owning it for only 8 months or something. i managed to break the screen after a rather drunken night playing sitar.

i <3 my iPod SO much though...

I got a Nano for my girlfriend last month. So far she has dropped it thrice, once into a large bucket of water, had it peed on, drueled on, and chewed on (she works in a kennel). Its still doing fine. She has yet to have any problems with battery life either, she can get through most of a shift listening on and off without recharging.

I will be sure to post any problems that arise, for the good of science.
