Double Bass iRig and Doublebass?

Hello,

I play the Doublebass with a B-Band D1 pickup and have an iPod Touch which I would like to connect to use the iPod for recording and effects.
I have the Amplitube Software on the iPod and build myself an iRig cable from this plan: Invalid Link Removed.
This works pretty well with an electric guitar, but when I plug the bass, barely nothing comes out and the little bit I hear is completely distorted.

I'm pretty shure it's got soemthing to do with the signal that comes from the D1 pickup.
D1 Specifications:
• Frequency response: 35 Hz – 20 kHz.
• Low-cut slope: -12 dB/oct.
• Voltage gain: 12 dB
• Input impedance: 50 M Ohm || < 10 pF
• Output impedance 1 K Ohm
• Power supply: 9-volt battery
• Current consumption: 0.8 mA typical

Maybe it's the output impedance? It's got only 1 K Ohm and as far as I know an electric guitar hast something like 10 -20 K Ohm.
Is there a solution for this problem (maybe DIY)?

Thanks a lot.
