What’s unfortunate is the thread hit the 3,000th post (Happy Anniversary!) and instead of music we are talking about prices and rules. This is like hearing more about professional sports players and their salaries, trades, negotiations, etc., than watching them play. It’s the reason I stopped watching sports. I won’t quit music and sure there’s a right for discussion of free speech within the guidelines, but it sucks that it has taken away from discussions about music.

I do not agree with Cosmicevans for sale post being taken down because I understand the point he's making. There's a Dubterranea for over $1k on Reverb currently...

It's hard to have nice enthusiastic conversations about Iron ether pedals when, due to unfortunate circumstances, there's none being produced and the only way to get them is to spend exorbitant prices on the used market or go on a wild goose chase!

Plus, in my opinion, it's entertaining to talk about used prices and scalpers...

I actually communicated with that seller earlier today because I was curious as to his pricing: in short, his pricing reflects the inflated price he paid as well as the 28% fees (a combination of taxes, international handling, and import duties). So I think this is an unusual case. At least, I hope it is so more folks can experience Iron Ether pedals in the future.

That makes sense. Whenever I buy used off of TB folks in the US/Canada, I get stung with 25%ish import taxes (on top of the extra postage cost). While I've only ever sold one pedal, a Proton v2, I sold it at the same cost I acquired it and would plan to do the same for future items (obviously I'll sell things at a loss too if it is a less in demand item). It does mean though that anything I acquire used from the US is going to look like I've got dollar signs in my eyes from the other side of the Atlantic to reflect the extra cost incurred on getting it to and into the UK.

Anyone else using the Divaricator like an overdrive? I really only use mine with the growl switched on, and the crossover somewhere in the low mids, with the lows and the clean boosted to about 2:00. This gives me some real nice grit with lots of fat lows. It's not always on for me but it does magical things to my tone.

This pedal is so rarely talked about here, but man is it useful.

Sometimes. Or you have money to burn and don't mind paying more to avoid a wait. Or the pedal is no longer in production and more than retail is the new market value. I wouldn't pay more in the former case, but in the latter I would (to a point). Folks do this all the time with things like the Boss OC-2, the Chase Bliss Ayahuasca, the Origin Effects Cali76 TX-LP, etc.

Growl only works on the high end and not the clean lows, right?

The growl is nice! I've used it with the Oxide (screaming alien psycho bees coming to kill you!) and the QF2 (awesome with a expression pedal) and had success with both. The Harmonics are good if you have the XD after it, it brings out some high freq.. the Density sounds good if you aren't playing too much, but like any reverb can muddy the waters so to speak.

I love it but The Divaricator isn't on my pedalboard now tho - I have 4 dist/od/fuzz units on it now in the neverending search for bass fuzz - a FEA Photon Fuzz 2 (with its octave up it also sounds great before the XD), Master Effects Super 300, a Dr. Scientists "The Elements" (great bass dist), a Sushi Box Underground Accelerator, & a fifth if you count the Dunlop Jason Chancelllor wah/filter/fuzz), but i'm still not satisfied with it...

I will forever be a proponent of free expression, so curtailing that is the last thing I'd ever want to do! But I just want to say that the last time this thread was temporarily gone, and it wasn't clear if it would come back, it made me really sad. So I guess I'm hoping that everyone can be sensitive to the lines that the mods have drawn so that this thread can stick around.

Indeed I would not. I'm just passing along what I learned. I cannot vouch for its veracity.

There once was a time that if and when you were selling something that you no longer wanted, you were just hoping to make back some of the money it cost. This all fell apart when selling things became a way to improve your starting financial position. To the seller that paid 28% fees, why do they have to make that back? If they were selling a tube screamer they wouldn't be able to inflate their price to cover the 28% fees...but for something that is rare or unavailable, you can set whatever price you want.

That's a good point about selling things being a way to improve one's starting financial position. I see that all the time. But--and I might be too young to remember--was there ever a time when folks weren't trying to do this? Seems like human nature to me. Also seems like human nature to want to make those fees back. Is that unrealistic? Absolutely. But I can understand wanting to recoup what one has in it. What I can't understand is knowingly paying an inflated price in the first place.

I suppose the less time that you’re having to post on here means more time for building brand spanking new Dubterrographs (please).

I was super excited to see the FMeron pre-release! I’m looking forward to seeing the NPDs popping up when they get shipped. We can’t let the Broughton thread have all the fun.

Hi! Nope, not directed at anyone, and being that I'm not a mod it's not for me to say what's OK and what's not. My sense is that when the thread was "endangered" recently, it was because the conversation veered into calling out a specific person's actions in a way that was perceived as a personal attack. I worried that things were headed in that direction again.

That’s the issue. The lines have not been drawn on this topic. How can a moderator judge whether one pedal is worth $1000 and another isn’t?

I feel like a separate thread needs to be made outside of pedal and brand-specific club/appreciation threads. And ask those questions there, wether it's to the Mods and/or everyone else. No reason to risk thread deletion for a topic that will never be resolved and one that is already so narrowed towards the specific discussion of the secondary market. Every major club thread here on TB seems to have this absolute mangled horse of a topic come up every month.

Anyways. Anyone have a FrantaBit (newer release or older 6-knob painted version) that they want to trade for a SubT? Hit up my inbox. Also was there a new FrantaBit (lol), with the black faceplate, that was released? I'm unsure. I must of not signed up for the email list or just not been aware when it dropped.

Yup, everything above the crossover.

The growl is nice! I've used it with the Oxide (screaming alien psycho bees coming to kill you!) and the QF2 (awesome with a expression pedal) and had success with both.

I've got an Oxide in there right now....it sounds amazing but practically I've got no real use for fuzz in my band situation. I'd try a QF2 in the rare instance one shows up, but right now I'm thinking of throwing an opto compressor in the loop to fatten up the distortion.

I love pretty much anything before the Xero. That being said, I haven't used the Density too much. I kind of just want to keep experimenting with stuff to throw in the loop, this is a crazy useful pedal.

Yep. That is the one I got. Unfortunately not up for the trade though. One day I will figure how to use it right.
