this is stoopid amounts of sloppy, was just trying to get some ideas down, but it's TAFM -> Xerograph -> slight Pitch Shifting on the M5 (the expression throw is set to the mix knob).......

now that my board's finally setup i can start actually using the expression pedal into the Xero. so much fun stuff in thar.

All I need is the QF2, Frantabit and the Nimbus.. In order of get too. More than halfway saved for the QF2. Not enough clips of the QF2 around.:hmm:



BTW: Surprised you dont have a QF2 there Behndyboughtitall.

For some reason I see some sort of wobbly marshmallow man walking down the street like a pimp to that. It's "Stayin' Alive" for Stay Puft.

Well, here is my contribution to the IE appreciation society for today.

Signal Chain: MIA P Bass Dlx w/passive mod>FEA OptiFet>Iron Ether Nimbus>DHA VT1 EQ DI>MOTU UL MK3>Ableton Live. I didn't add any post-recording processing.

I gave up on trying to play it perfect. I just wanted to put a little emotion behind it and have fun. The dead strings make for a really cool tone, but it is very hard to get those more obscure harmonics out. The Nimbus helps keep everything nice and bright and ambient. It is a lot of fun to play this piece with the Nimbus.

I need to join the IE Appreciation Society. Early on I bought an Oxide and a four knob Xerograph. In an episode of madness I sold both. I have recently bought another Oxide and Xero D from the TB classifieds and consider my pedal board now back up to spec!

Taylor and crew are the best!

Here's a simple, quick 16-bar loop I made used a couple of Taylor's goodies.

Details:

Recorded the loop onto a BOSS RC-50 (drums provided by the BOSS) using my SSD NS-4. The main riff is OC-2 (-1 at 100%, -2 and clean at 0%) > Oxide (set with a very tight gate) > Xerograph Deluxe (using the clean blend to let the upper fuzz harmonics come through).

The Oxide Morph knob is set on the gated side, around 8 o'clock. EQ is on the darker side, about 11:30, Drive at 1:00, Voice and Strangle switches down.

The Xero D gives that serious low end, enhancing the OC-2's synthy lows. Through a club's PA, just crushes (and gets the bootys shaking). The clean blend brings in the nasty. (*The second loop is just improv of clean bass though one of my Midi-synched Timefactor presets)

Would love to hear what a Polytope would do to this, so that will most definitely be in my future (Taylor knows my plans...).

Awesomeness Basehead me likey.

Last night at rehearsal we did a cover of AwolNations "Sail".
I got a fuzzy, thick, synthy tone with my OC2>Oxide>XeroD w/expression as well.

I.E. appreciation for sure!

Thank you, gents!

Honestly, the OC-2 > Oxide > Xero D has become my holy trinity of sound shaping. Both IE pedals give plenty of flexibility to come up with new sounds. Bravo Taylor!

....and I'm still jonesing for that IE Square Wave synth.

I gotta throw in some praise for Taylor and IE pedals. I got the Oxide a while ago and love it. It melts the proverbial faces like nothing else I've tried before..
other than acid.. :hiding:

When GAS last striked, I went on the search for a reverb which led me to the Nimbus. I ordered one and Taylor was awesome enough to make it a custom color.

Dealing with Taylor and seeing how easy it was, and how awesome his products are just makes me want a Xero dlx that much more.

Damnit. :p

I'm the same. I don't have a practical use for the Oxide, XeroDlx, Polytope or Frantabit in either of my bands, but I'm sure I'll be happy sitting at home, getting wasted and noodling into the wee hours.

QF2 is my only IE pedal that actually gets used in a band, yet it's the least fun...

Just checked the status of my order - the FrantaPoly combo is in the country but I doubt I'll get them until after the weekend.

Hello gents.

Would someone mind explaining to me what sort of reverb the Nimbus is? I have the Hardwire reverb at the moment, and while it has a good mix of sounds, I think I would rather have a really great room/hall reverb rather than the option of any random reverb. Is that the sort of thing the Nimbus is? Your help is greatly appreciated.

I think the room/hall thing is exactly what the Nimbus excels at, IMO. It does have a fairly wide range of sounds, there certainly are other reverb pedals that have more options, but none that I've tried that are as "believable" as the Nimbus. The coolest part about playing this song is that it sounds like it is in a concert hall to me:

Yeah I watched that earlier and enjoyed the tone a ton. Think I might drop the cash on one in the future. Or if anyone is looking to unload one I'd like to talk to you :D

hi all,

so I'm just getting to grips with my new Frantabit... what a pedal! so far I've been intending to dial in a subtle harmonic effect, but always end up in square wave face-crushing fuzz territory. ah well :)

oh and it has *totally* woken up my old, neglected DOD fx25 - anyone else find this? such a good sound together, very synthy... less about the quack, more about the sweep...
