I haven't heard anything described as diggity-dank since about 1993.... Wait... no, that's not true. An engineer friend of mine also teaches and had a recording class in his studio so we were the guinea band. His wife made chocolate chip cookies and one of the more red-eyed students exclaimed that the cookies were DANK! I about fell off my stool as my friend confusedly said, you mean they don't taste good?

Ok, here's what happened back then. I was working on a device that was basically a combination of the digital LFO from the Cygnet (a tremolo pedal I made only for the first year of IE's existence) with the Xerograph Deluxe. I spent a lot of time working on this, but for technical reasons it just didn't come together the way I wanted, and there was effectively no way to get good response from that design or any permutation of it. Any of the ways I could find to marry the two circuits led to very sloppy LFO response, so as the speed increased, depth of modulation decreased, and the sharp and choppy waveforms were being slewed and smeared out. I could anticipate that people were not going to like this, because I didn't like it. So rather than release something I didn't have confidence in and get bad reviews, I put it on the shelf and figured I'd keep thinking about it until I knew how to do it right.
Years have passed and I have been studying. This thread is a monument to why I'll never again announce a pedal until it's actually done and available, but I definitely haven't forgotten about this general concept or ever stopped thinking about how to do it right. If I ever were to make something like this, it would be an entirely new design from the ground up, not based on the XD or TapLFO as used in the Cygnet. And it wouldn't be called the Bubble Chamber.
