Iron Ether FrantaBit

lulz. that's my xbox id actually. "GLADoS luvs me".

Portal 01 was insanely good. Portal 02 just kept going. it lagged a little in the middle. i'm waiting on my boy that loves the game too and lives a couple hours from me to get done with the single player campaign so i can run through the co-op with somebody.

so. GOOD. Caroline.

The co-op gets kinda slow in the middle too. I enjoyed the bigger story and increased depth of the sequel over the first one.

I've just got to say that I'm amazed with some of the control options available on this pedal.

Mr T,
;)
Was part of your design brief specifically wanting to preempt any inevitable custom requests that us awkward TalkBass members might have ?

It just seems to me that the controls combined with the expression pedal options are mighty generous and incredibly well thought out.
So much so that, I couldn't even think of what else to ask for more of!

Oh wow this looks like a really cool box. :)

I'm really into my Bugcrusher but I'd like to try one of these too. Maybe I need to order a bunch of pedals from Taylor one of these days, it's always such a grind waiting for international shipping and then finding out how much the Man is gonna sting you for. :(

Yeah mate.

It's truly random as well!
I've asked other bods who have ordered the same pedal and the VAT + Parcelfarce "Handling Fee's" have varied wildly.
Nothing the exchange rate could explain anyway.
Buggers!

Hmm... ;)

Actually, the design concept was just that I really like this kind of effect, but I felt it hadn't been done properly as a pedal. There were units with extraneous options, at the expense of usability, or which were too limited in the essential parameters for this kind of effect. The FrantaBit, like everything else I make, just arose from wanting something that didn't exist.

So from the beginning, I felt the expression options were essential to making this a really usable and musical instrument as opposed to only a zany noisemaker (although it can still be that too). Like a lot of bass players these days, I'm very much interested in new forms of electronic music, so I wanted to create something that would allow for the complex animated basslines that you hear in these styles, rather than being limited to a static effect that you click on and then click off. Keeping the feature set powerful but focused was the other major design rule.

Oh my.

What have I started :)

I really do see the depth of thought that has obviously gone into this pedal (and also your previous products).
The Oxide is rightly known as being an incredibly versatile unit but I think the attention to detail offered with the Frantabit is great!!!
So often there is a "wouldn't it be amazing if" moment.
I can't see that as being relevant with this pedal.

Just hurry up and get soldering :)

I'd agree. Here's what I'm running into though - the Xerograph, FrantaBit, and Cygnet all can make great use of an expression pedal. And like a lot of other people I've got other pedals with expression inputs as well. For me this means a lot of cable switching since I only have one expression pedal on my board.

What I'd love is a switching box where I could run the stereo cable from my expression pedal in and then have several cables out, one for each pedal I want to control with the ability to turn expression control on and off for each one. In a perfect world maybe even an invert switch for each such that the effect of the sweep is reversed and thus you could have one effect going "up" while a second goes "down".

Anybody know of anything remotely like that - even without the "invert"?

And Taylor, its going to be a while before I get used to the new Avatar. I love Mr. T [DEL]as much as[/DEL] more than the next guy but the old avatar is still in my minds eye when I see your name.
