Not necessarily. The problem is that, whoever's building this expression unit has no way of knowing to what it's going to be connected. All pedals will have different things going on in their switching jacks. Maybe the ring and tip are shorted together when no expression pedal is present. Maybe there is a pot wired to the 3 switched terminals, and those 3 switches need to connect to the tip, ring, and sleeve. Maybe a phaser's oscillator is disconnected so it can be swept manually by the expression pedal.

Accounting for all of these possibilities would require extreme universality and I'd have to think for a bit about whether it's possible at all. To make something that only works with certain pedals (like Moog's MP201) is quite possible, but for me as a player, it would be disappointing to buy a box like that to find out that it can't actually be used with all of my stuff.

I have some other angles from which to approach this... Hopefully something will come of it.

A busy builder, taking time out to explain - in detail - this wacky idea. that is why Taylor is awesome and deserves our support. I've got my first IE pedal arriving this week. Trying to decide which one I'll order next.

lulz. i'm just joshing (how the FRAK did that become a synonym for teasing or playing around? some Josh was a baaaaaaaaaad mooooooo-WatchYoMouth. i'm just talking about JOSH) him. he came over to my house for a mini Pedal Summit and i freaking hated the Brown Dog.

The knobs. Every time I open my pedaltrain bag I have to reset the knobs on the chunk pedals. And since they are sensitive, highly interactive controls, I can get them close but never all the way(ben, do what you will with this sentence about sensitive knobs). Drives me totally insane. On stage, it means my fancy pedals sound ok, but never great since I don't have the time to dial them in perfectly while stage-managing a ten piece band.

Add in all the other issues discussed eslewhere and I am ready for a change. When set properly, I can get some amazing sounds out of the chunk combo, but nearly every aspect of the design of the Xero is more appealing to me. Etc etc, I could go on, but there will be a filter shootout at my house this weekend, loser goes to the classifieds.

I've mentioned before that while everyone was looking to compare the Xero to the Moogerfooger, it actually sounded most similar to the 00Funk to me. A LOT of similar sounds between them. But ultimately I thought the Xero was much easier to dial in, slightly more organic sounding and just flat out more versatile considering the ability to be a static LPF or used with expression control.

Now I have a Brown Dog and a used Oxide and I'm finding them more different than I thought they'd be. Still, for what I do I actually may end up using the Brown Dog though the Oxide isn't going anywhere any time soon. Wonderful fuzz.

But the Frantabit (and the Nimbus) will have no competition on my board. Both are exactly what I want and they've already got their pedalboard spaces reserved.

give me a sentence with something lile cairn or concatenate (i LOVE hard K sounds. heh. HARD K) and we'll do some WORK.

yeah. i feel you on re-dialing in stuffs. my PPB and Rusty Box are the only ones that get wobbled in the pedalboard case, but they take like 12 seconds to put back. easy peasy.

Sterling is just a ridiculous player, Matt Dean will wobble out some odd noises and bring that Get The **** OUT Of My Face punk legitimacy to anything, but for exploring all the knobbies and switches and dipplets? Tyler's the man.
