Is a 1 hour Massage...only 45 mins???

So I went to my first couple of professional massages last month.....

everything says 1 hour....billing...advertising...etc...

both times the actual massaging only lasted 45 mins...

eh 15 mins not that big a deal? well it is 25% less then what i was lead to believe...that's a pretty big chunk..

is this common practice in the massage industry?

am i paying for the 15 mins it takes me to undress....redress...etc...????

maybe i should just show up naked then?

This is why you should only buy massages with a happy ending. Then you don't care how long it is.

My hour massages have been one hour. They even set the timer in the room so you can see that you're getting the full hour.

Get a different masseuse.

Sounds off to me, if they advertise 60 min, then you should be getting 60 min. 50 min is not uncommon (makes it much easier to schedule sessions) but therapists are usually up front about that.

It is somewhat common. It really depends on the individual/company practice. I've worked in places that specifically stated 1hr and the clients received 1 full hour. and other places where the "1 hour" was per the practitioner's preference.

FTR, yes, I have been certified in massage therapy. Many years ago I logged in over 1,000 hours of training on a few different styles. Though I must admit... I haven't done such work in a long time; now that I'm no longer young and cute.

yeah..I think 50 minutes is normal. All the ones I've gotten have been about that...they kinda include dressing/undressing.

my wife is a massage therapist.


she says you should demand an hour if that is what you paid for.

the massage therapist is also only responsible for 1 hour.

you should show up a few minutes early to change.
also you should demand that the message should be 1 hour long, you should be on the table for one hour.


if your therapist cannot accommodate you, don't hesitate to find a different therapist, there are plenty.
