is a pbass better for reggae than a jazz?

I play reggae bass, regular, P bass, J bass who cares...just a bass and your presence is good enough for the irie vibes. Seen. I jus saved fe a long time a bought a lakland 5502 5 string, i love it !, i have a Jazz bass too but the Laky suits me for covering some UK TwoTone Ska and modern riddims (Spice, Sizzla etc).
The amp plays a big part in your sound, i use an ampeg and 4x10 but would love an 8x10...but people dance to my 4x10...so thats Irie.

Also Family man uses a Hohner B bass when i last see him and Eden amps. An Eden would be nice too....but after saving for a Laky it'd be a while.
Now go and play Stalag, Full up, Drop leaf, Forever lovin Jah and Queen of the Minstrels riddims....seen.

Nuff dem say fyah burn, me gwan string up!

if memory serves me, Family Man invented reggae with a Jazz. you know what that means, right?
it's definitely a Jazz for reggae. anything else is just imitation.

I'm of the opinion that the line for that forms behind Aston Barret and we all know what he thinks about that.

That and, the front pickup of a good J bass sounds one heck of a lot more like a P bass than most people think. With the right strings, the front PU of my single coil Sadowsky is the best P bass you ever heard.
