Is anyone using true J single coils with a preamp?

I have noticed that the severity of hum varies between pickups, from barely noticeable to potentially distractive.

Curiously, the Barts in the "active" Warmoth 5 hum louder than the Antiquity IIs in the Nash J.

The worst was the '51 Reissue, until I raised the pickup much closer to the strings. That gave me a better signal/hum ratio and luckily also got me more of the tone and dynamic response I was wanting.

Stock singles in my 2008 Jazz V, and with an Audere is sounds nice and quiet, no noise.

Audere J5/ 2006 MIM Jazz deluxe,with basslines. Runs quiet, some issue when switching during play, but that's infrequent.

I have exactly this combination in one of my custom made Jazz bass and it's incredibly quiet.(NJ4 + audere preamp)

The nj4 are the quietest singlecoil i've tried...
