Is GC dropping MarkBass?

MarkBass revamped their line and the newer kit is fugly.

I can only imagine the uproar when they first went to yellow cones.

It always has been unless bright yellow is your thing. I own Markbass because it is super reliable high quality gear.

They originally used typical cones, not yellow. I used to own an OG silver-branded Markbass 610. Local L&M thought it was counterfeit when I traded it in.

This was exactly my thought, when I saw the name of the thread. I'm surprised that a lot of people don't have them on C.O.D.

Things don't look good.

Having a B3 rating with Moody’s last I looked definitely isn’t good for GC since that basically means a company’s obligations are considered speculative and subject to high risk. Not something lenders or suppliers want to see.

I'm OK with the yellow; in fact I quite like it! :-)
It's the wrap-around off-colour plastic edges which look naff.

The Guitar Center in my Area had 1 Mesa D800+, 1 Aguilar SL112, 1 Aguilar TH500. I Darkglass 4x10 and Markbass 58R 1X15 Energy Cab, 1 Markbass 58R CMD 102P and 151P Combo's
with full compliment of Rumble and Ampeg Rocket stuff and very limited upper level Basses 1 Ultra Precision, 1 EBMM Stingray5

The "Boutique-ish" Shop in my area has 1 D800+, 4 of old design Genzler Cabinet's and 350, 800 Amp's
Also a full compliment of Rumble Combo's and Class D Heads; very limited upper level Basses also Fender Pro II as Top model

Not much difference of the 2

Other than Squire and Rumble 'Boys' not much for TBer's to go and Play/Checkout around here

There can be tremendous variation from store to store with GC. The three CT locations I've been in vary greatly, from quite good to awful. The two Manhattan locations were pretty well stocked with all levels of gear last time I was there, but Sam Ash has a nice selection there too, so GC gets quite a competitive nudge.

of course there can be exceptions, but overall... from stock selection to the knowledge of the staff, the walmart of instrument stores.

Why?
Why? So everybody can crap on them for being the house brand?

I find it funny when TB brings up Traynor because they just do not carry any stigma down South. Local players don't look at them as highly desirable or more than a house brand.
Why you ask? Because I have had nothing but good experiences with Traynors bass amps. They are not as ubiquitous as Markbass or Fender around these parts.

So this may be a Canada only thing, but literally everywhere in Ontario that were formally selling MB have no stock / removed it completely from their brands. Not sure if its a Canadian reseller issue but literally like 8 different stores no longer carry it and most of them when I ask about it straight up try to pitch me on a different brand (Genzler, Aguilar, ect) which to me haven't impressed me and sound super sterile.

That probably has more to do with Korg and Jam Industries than anything else. Whatever the distributors are pushing is what the stores are getting.

I saw a 58R 15" combo at Guitar Center today. So, I don't think they're dropping MarkBass. The combo was light, it seemed to be not made of wood, but I didn't get to look inside. Maybe wood reinforced plastic of some sort? Only played it briefly. Turned it on and it had that boxy tone that I really don't like in MarkBass cabs. But any ways, Guitar Center is carrying them.
