I work with a pro sound guy who also plays drums in our band for kicks. In spite of the fact that he had gotten my sound great in the past, I just helped him load in/out of a stadium level gig. All sounded great - exceptional even - except the mushy bass. I missed sound check. I am now suspecting "presets" in the new board as the "mush" is common.
Here's a professional's quote from the comments section of the manufacturer's site: "I'll elaborate on just 1 of the presets, Bass 1...The comp was generally too heavy handed (for a typical DI or amp output DI signal) and squashed the whole thing instead of just leveling out the dynamics, but a simple press of the fat channel select for the bass channel, and a slight adjustment with the threshold would clean that right up. Very intuitive, and quickly..."
So, is the Bass preset modeling some old POS 1959 bass pickup through a old cab? I know we'll be having a conversation about it.
