Is it weird that the drummer is also the singer?

Despite the fact that Karen Carpenter was a competent drummer, they eventually brought in another drummer and put her out front.

For a weird one, Strawberry Alarm Clock's best lead singer was, just like The Band, the drummer. He sang lead on all three of the hits.

Hooo boy.... this guy met a tragic end. I met him at a jam at a friend's house and he was so drunk that his playing sounded like a four-year-old who just found a drumset in the basement. My friend and I excused ourselves from jamming with him. People told us that he was that way quite a lot... not very long after he committed suicide; apparently he was terminally ill and couldn't deal with it.
