Is recent surge in string prices permanent?

I don't want to get political, but in very recent years our world leaders have made some very bad decisions, which we are seeing the results of in many areas, a big jump in inflation topping the list.

I’d put it in the bucket with a few other IMO worse things. Not knowing which politicians or decisions you are referring to, and it is best so, I’ll leave it at that. (Does Russia have politicians?)

I doubt string prices will fall unless bassists respond. Will this cause prices for 5 and 6 string basses to fall?
