One thing that I find absolutely hilarious, albeit unintentionally, is that any time one visits a newsagents, and see the cover of the latest issue of Metal Hammer, or Kerrang ; one is always greeted by exactly the same "angry young men" staring back at you, with the same studied "mean" / "scary" / "crazy" (just like the Spice Girls) faces, the same studied "tough" / "aloof" poses, "rebellious" hair, and check list of accessories / uniform.
This has been getting funnier with each passing year, for the last 27 years - with generation after generation, wave after wave, of new hard rock and metal bands, all helping reduce things down to a pantomime of cliches.
Admittedly, part of this is me getting older, and having seen it all before.
An even bigger part is that conformity had replaced true originality, causing stagnation, and eventual putrification.
So from that point of view ; Rock has ceased rolling, and moss has prevailed.
