Took me 25 years to realize I liked using a pick and hopefully I will have dementia and drool on my bass before I get into slapping it.

Personnaly, I'm sick of R'n'B slap bass that Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Stanley Clark and Larry Graham do.
+1 me too. i just straight up dislike it.
You see in this world there's two kinds of people my friend - those with loaded guns, and those who dig slapping
....I'm just making an observation. I also look good in pleated pants but accept that they're out of style.
True. But why is it that people think that if a person slaps, that must be all they can do? It takes a lot of practice to be good at slapping. And people that put in the amount of time to get good at it are also good at other aspects of their playing. Take Wooten, Miller, Clarke, Ham, and King for example. All known for astounding slap technique, but play finger style equally as well. They often have better finger style chops, but people don't really notice that. Too busy hating them for being better than most at slapping
As long as they keep showing reruns of Seinfeld slap bass will remain relevant.
If you're gonna do it, make it groove.....
