I bought a Tagima TBM-5 bass about 6 months ago in NZ. The reason I bought this guitar was because I wanted to learn a 5 string bass. The TBM-5 was the most affordable 5 string available. Also being the MM Stingray shape made it more desirable.
Firstly I put on some new Elixir strings then I spent some time with action, bridge intonation and pup height. The fret edges required minimal filing and polishing to remove a few sharps. The nut seemed ok so I didn’t touch it. The guitar stays in tune with minimal tuning adjustments every time I play.
I am more than pleased with my new 5 string, it sounds great and I have learnt to use the B string often and I actually use almost the whole fretboard now. The build quality of the guitar is as good as any new guitar. I am happy to recommend this guitar for anyone wanting to venture into a 5 string.
