Is the badass bridge discontinued?

Now that would be a shame if they went away. Or if Fender did/does own them and makes them only available stuck to a bass. Or as bad, you cannot buy them seperately and the only way to get another is to ship them the damaged one, like they do with necks.

But then it occurs to me that such an idiotic (IMHO) decision would drive the price of existing new and used bridges through the roof. In which case I would pull the one from my Ash Jazz and sell it for 400 dollars and then put a Gotoh 201 on in its place....

Well, there are other choices. When I couldn't get my hand on a BAII, i got a Gotoh 201. It's a high-mass bridge that fits Fender, so it'll work for you.

while i have a badass II on my jazz and like it fine, there are a lot of different large mass bridges to pick from and if i was buying a replacement bridge i would definately check out some of the others that are available before choosing anything.

Appearantly Leo Q is not well.

Leo Q passed away a while ago. I remember that it was posted on the badass site, and that his daughter (i think) would continue with the company.

Hey, I was just checking that one out. The thing I liked about the Badass was that the saddles had their own individual tracks so to speak; one the biggest problems I have with my stock Fender bridge is the saddles sliding and rubbing together, creating all kinds of nasty buzzes. Do the saddles on the Gotoh stay put?

Check out the Ken Smith bridge if you like the idea of big deep tracks for each saddle.

Not true for the more than a dozen Gotoh 201s that I've used.

Sent them an email asking to clarify the rumors going around.

The Gotoh 19mm which was standard on Fender basses for Decades.

What I mean by "interest" is that FMIC doesn't own the company, the name, a license etc. ..and FMIC doesn't manufacture them either.

I was responding to posts that suggested that Fender had a tie with the company other than an OEM supplier.

Yes, they do. The saddles on the Gotoh 201 bridge have their own tracks, and it's a straight replacement for the stock Fender 5-screw bridge. It's less expensive than the BA2 as well. Check the Warmoth site, that's where I got mine...

Besides Gotoh, Hipshot makes a heavier bridge that some players like.

I am currently designing a direct drop-in Fender bridge that will hopefully sound as good as the badass for $20-$30 cheaper. I have a thread asking for any and all input on the subject of bridges. Your input is invaluable since who knows better than the players.
