This was 1979.... don't think they had e brakes ;) But no, I think if the vehicle comes with something like that you are allowed to use it.

+1 Although I don't put any weight in the back. Basically there are 2 to 4 times a winter I really really need the weights and four wheel drive. But I am not going to pay the lower gas mileage for a couple of days.... so I put up with some white knuckle driving and carry a bit of sand/salt mixture :p

When I went to England for work one time our boss was worried that we would have trouble with driving on the left, so he paid for an upgrade on the rental car to an automatic. There would be three of us driving it; two of us only drove manuals, and the other guy was from England.

So we get to the rental agency and they are out of automatics. So we get an upgrade to a sportier car :D It was a Saab with the turbo engine not available in NA and a manual transmission. It was both the best, and almost worst (*), car I have ever driven.

(*) The worst was a Sunfire we rented. Which was an automatic ;)
