I've been Messing around with synth sounds for a while (using my BEF pro and some fuzz) and an realizing with more tweaking that I could really use a dedicated synth pedal and an octaver..... (as opposed to using the filter and stuff) I know the Markbass does both, but how well? From what I've seen/heard it tracks nicely and sounds great! So what do you all think? Show your love.... Or hate.... I know the basics of the pedal but want to hear stories from fellow bassists. Also I use a MM stingray, will it play nicely with the active electronics and/or other pedals (fuzz, chorus, etc) Thanks for sharing!

Is the Markbass Super Synth really super to you?

I really like it for synth sounds. It's got tons of cool features, but it stinks that you need to connect it to a computer to edit the patches.
I'm not a fan of the octave in it, I still use an OC-2.

I'd say that it is fun I can make some interesting sounds with it, and I don't mind that I have to hook it to a computer. I agree that the chorus is not so hot on its own. It is a very distorted/artificial chorus sound. But it is a synth...
I don't know how it will work with active basses, but wrt other pedals, it really needs to be near first in line from the bass. Certainly before any volume control.

It is a cool pedal. I wish you could scroll up or down between sounds instead of just up. There is the computer for editing, not bad for making patches, I am okay with that. The fact that it only uses one wave form could be a problem for some. The octaver tracks well, and sounds okay, it hasn't replaced my MXR BOD.

Every single synth pedal has advantages and disadvantages. I decided I could live with the MB SS. I can get some great sound with it, my BEF Pro, a delay, and maybe chorus or phaser (used sparingly).

I love it and it cuts through the band mix very very well. In fact I have to dial my output down before I turn on the pedal. If you want a sound sample check the song "like your face" at Link Removed The bass is not on top of the mix but you can get an accurate idea of how it can sound. It was recorded direct through a markbass amp.
ive had the super synth for a while now, and have definitely found fat funky nasty synthy sounds that i haven't gotten anywhere else. ill keep it for that reason alone. ive even found good settings with the octaver. (although still like the OC2 better)
i do wish it had diff. waveforms to choose from, and i wish you could make downsweeps. tracking is good most of the time, although sometimes not so much. there is room for improvement, but overall there are several choice noises which makes it worthwhile for me.
also, you can't use the synth and octaver at the same time. its one or the other.

A dude named Gastric made a downsweep preset that I downloaded from his website. Check on the big MB SS thread.
To be more specific - my bass can be played both active and passive and I use the pedal with active electronics. So I haven't had any problems.
The computer interface is easy to use and changing sounds is easy as well.
I've found some pedals cut very well in a band mix and some don't. This pedal cuts very well in the band mix. I have used it with multiple bands/musicians and it always cuts. Even with loud drummers.
