Is There a 300 Watt Cab Simulator

I've only found a Radial JDX Reactor, (but it's a 500 rack series) that's 300 watts for an Ampeg 300 watt tube head. Palmer, Mesa and others usually only go to 150 watts. We are toying around with the idea since we have IEMs anyway. Guitarists have a lot of options but bass players with anything more than 150 watts it seems could have a hard time finding a load box / cab sim. Does anyone have experience with the Mesa cab clones? Do they sound any better than going direct?

To me, if you're headed down this path, it is probably worth your time to look into full on modeling (might end up not being for you, but it's worth looking into). I'd suggest the Fractal Audio Axe-Fx II or their AX8. I obviously don't know your full setup, so it might be overkill for you.

As far as what you're actually asking about, I think that Avalon U5 will take up to a 400W amp. There's also the Radial JDI, which doesn't have the guitar voicing baked in, though I forget what its limit is.

I looked into the Kemper, but it's way too expensive. I wish I could just find something like a Mesa Cab Clone that supports 300 watts. I wonder why they don't. They make a slew of bass amps more than 125 watts.

Probably because traditionally, bassists just go DI when they don't mic a cab. Guitarists have a lot of their tone in their cabs + hard driven amps, especially for distortion. Bassists, not quite as much (yes, all bass cabs color the tone, but we're not as finnicky about it as guitarists - and the few that drive their amps hard for output tube distortion are fewer and farther between).

I mean, you could always go with a V4B or one of the new PF tube series amps and use a smaller soak?

Not saying its a CHEAP option, just that it IS an option :)

Edit: the PF20T can be run as a Pre-amp or without a cab as a DI. Its "only" $600, which is really not bad for a high end DI.
