Is there a standard for blend pots?

The standard is any small increment off of the detent is full on bridge or neck. Yea.....

I'm guessing there really isn't too much of a standard...

As you realized, and others have said, wire it the way you prefer. Even bass manufacturers aren't all the same.

One thing to be aware of, if you don't already know this, is Blend Potentiometer manufacturers sometimes have the internal resistive elements (2 of 'em) reversed from other manufacturers. Which means your grounds and hot output connections will need to be reversed. A meter check before installing will quickly sort out which version you have.

Here's a schematic symbol of a blend pot, and it's two possibilities. Wiper arms are contacts 2 and 5.:

-When blend pot centered, both wipers are not touching the resistive element (ziggy lines). Both pickups are full volume out.
-When knob moved off-center (shown partially ccw above), one wiper is now contacting a resistive element. That pickup becomes adjustable (volume control), the other remains full volume out.

FWIW, here's the referencing I used regarding the drawings above. As noted by many, your referencing may vary.

Of the two pot versions you'll see, the large majority I've run into have the resistive elements connected to contacts 1 and 6.

Anyway, just wanted to note that the outside of blend pots look the same, but internals can be different. Ain't nothing a meter can't determine in moments.
