Is there a string that sounds "growly" and "thuddy" at the same time?

I'm not sure if my thread title makes any sense, but the sound I'm after is McCartney's (or Harrison's depending on who you ask) sound on "Drive My Car." I'm assuming flatwounds were used, but would a pressure wound or ground wound string work just as well?
