I like the feel of mine (424x ) The neck is very nice but the pUps are way too hot for me. The bridge pickup sound way to 200ish and the neck pickup is too bassy. I always cut some bass and some low mids on my bass amp ( Ampeg portaflex PF500 )

I have this BB3000S that the previous owner did a refinish to only the front of the body to have just a thin satin poly coat, where you can feel the wood grain. I think it is an improvement and it doesn't seem like a modification to look at it. I had a NOS Fender P Bass Special bridge on for these pics but since have switched back to the original with the threaded saddles.

Really smooth tone where notes sound very even up and down the neck and across strings. Great especially into an all tube head, and also great with flats. I have Chromes on it now and the E string is especially good because it sounds clear and even in the lowest five notes without getting really boomy.

That is a beauty. I would love to get my hands on a BB5000 in white and maybe a BB1600 or BB3000 in Natural finish. I will post pics of my BB5000AF fretless that I just got off of TB. It is Gun Metal Blue, not a color I have seen before on BB's.

Anybody have an extra tuner hanging around that they don't need or can you point me to a place where I can get one? I've got a broken one on my BB300 that needs replacing. It's the style that uses three mounting screws.

Thanks. The BB1200S has an active 3-band EQ - in addition to the volume knob and passive tone knob (the two big knobs), there are 3 smaller EQ knobs (bass/middle/treble) and a toggle switch to change between active and passive mode. Having the ability to switch means you're never stranded if your battery dies; in passive mode it's basically identical to a BB1200.

I'm pretty sure the BB1100S has the same EQ, and that they're the only two 1980's Broad Bass models with an active/passive switch.

Heres mine. A very recent Craigslist rescue. $75. Going to string it and set the action/int. in the morning and take it straight to practice to see what it can do. I love the weight. The red,,, not so much. I think its an '88. I like the other poster that had restored his and went with a woodgrain. I can go for that.

I believe I have checked online with no luck, but does any one know where I could find what the structural differences / build design differences with the BB sub models? My first bass that I still have is an 1986 BB450 (will post pics soon) and was curious to see how the basses differ between, say the BB300 and BB414, etc.

this was my first bass, fretless and left handed. it was the only left handed bass my mum could get me for christmas. i love it, but still struggle to play in a band with it...

I have used it in band settings several times when I still had it. It kinda worked in a Pino Palladino sort of way, but I still prefer my Fender Jazz fretless. The BB fretlesses are fantastic basses though, to use in e.g. (semi-)acoustic settings.
