Any thoughts on a 1x10 and 1x15 running together?

Head is Traynor YBA-200, 200 watts tube.

The 15 is a Traynor 115 rated at 400 watts,
the 10 is an SWR WP rated at 100 watts.

Both are 8 ohms, so 4 ohms together.

Am I risking a blown speaker? i just don't quite get the whole mixing of cabs thing.

Can I play the 10 alone with a 200 watt head, or boom?

Both the 1x10 and 1x15 together, turned up to the limit of that the 1x10 can handle will probably not be as loud as just the 1x15 by itself with the amp cranked.

If you're careful, it could work for home practice if you're looking for a bit more top end than the 1x15 puts out alone. For anything else, just run the 15 by itself and turn it up.

Also, you can run the 1x10 by itself, just be careful to listen for when the speaker starts to distort and back the amp off.

Short of biamping your rig, you could add a passive crossover to the 10" cutting off the very lowest frequencies, and use it as a midrange speaker....adding a crossover would also allow it to compete power capacity wise with the 15: seat of the pants I'd put a 12dB passive crossover at something like 200Hz which would get all the fundamentals out of that speaker and let it add something to your mid/high frequencies.

You can do it, but not much advantage in doing it. The risk is the 15 drowning out the sound of the 1x10 breaking.
