Not sure if this is the right place for this question. Please correct its placement if it isn't.
I am looking for a bass and I found an interesting ad on craigslist.... a 1980 G&L L-1000.

As you can see, he's selling this bass for what seems to be quite a low price even for a scratched up 1980 G&L. After a quick browse, I found other 1980 L-1000s going for double that price at least.
Another problem which I found in a quick browse was the serial number. If it is a 1980 model, then the serial number is too high... as seen here:

It's possible he didn't date it correctly, which isn't a big deal to me. That would put the bass at roughly a 1982 model. Maybe 1982s weren't as desirable so he's lying about the year? Or maybe everything is legit and he's just a guy selling a bass because he needs to make room or get a quick buck?
