Hello, first message/thread here.
I wanted to ask the knowledgeable (I hope) TalkBass community about an ad I saw in my country's Craiglist equivalent, for a Steinberger XP-25 in white; it's not the modern, 400-bucks XT-25 you can easily get at Thomann or whatever, you can see it with the presence of a pickguard of sorts, the tips of the "wings" are different, and most of all, the neck is set further inside the body.
Problem is, it looks like Steinberger never released the XP-25 in white; red and black alright, but not white. Indeed, Googling steinberger "xp-25" bass "white" shows white XT-25's here and there, but never what that seller has in his ad.
I messaged him by the way, asking if he could find a serial number somewhere on the instrument; he didn't find any. He said he got it from a guy who bought it in New York. I have no reason to doubt him, his rating is pretty high.
So, what do y'all say? Is this some kind of genuine, rare Steinberger, or a Chinese fake?
