Is this a good Idea?

I just picked up an Affinity V and I'm extremely impressed with it. I've owned two CV basses and I believe the build quality is as good as those. I will say the Affinity pickups have a good tone, but are a bit too microphonic. I"m looking to replace them w/noiseless. That, and new pots are the only changes planned. I will definitely gig this bass.

Lots of people here on TB have bought Squier basses and modded them up.
They are a solid platform in which to mod.
Find one with a nice neck and your off and running...
I myself have done this.
Usually a new heavier bridge & tuners are required.
Some of the stock P'ups are quite good like the Duncan Designed ones on the VM

My main bass is a Squire Affinity five stock, Flat-wound Detroit strings.
I owned pre. CBS Fender jazz post P bass and I am here to tell you it is a fine bass after a good setup.
Any difference preceved can be cured through medication.:D

Here is why it's possibly not a good idea. You can't play the bass with Bartolini pickups in it before you buy the bass. You might like them, you might not. Bartolini makes several different Jazz Bass pickups, too.

People change pickups all the time, of course, but you can't just assume you'll love a bass because it has Barts in it. :)
