Is this a legit MM Bongo?

How about this one?

What gets me about the fakes are, whatever factory these are coming out of. Why not just build a real non-knock-off bass? Make something new. You have enough parts just cut your own body shape. Might be a winner ;)

There are threads here every day asking for cheaper ways to get a Ric, whatever. Same way people will buy through an unknown seller to try to save a few bucks, rather than a legit supplier.

Counterfeiting of anything is a huge business.

I agree. I hate counterfeiters, and would like them to do something legitimate.
Not going to I guess. Too many people wanting that stuff.

However I do see some custom builds the folks get here from those factories. You can request most anything and get it more or less. Some of those builds look nice. Maybe a body shape like something familiar but it stops there. I have thought about looking at something like that.

:)

He was pretty responsive until I asked for the SN :D
Not surprising - a sure sign you can't trust the seller. They should be more than willing to give you the info you are looking for. The guy I bought my SR from posted the SN in the pics and wanted to talk on the phone before any transactions took place. There was no way we were going to meet up (bass in Que, me in NS) but, it all worked out.
