Is this an SVT-CL?

$500 to retube? Someone above said around the $225 mark...

That would definitely sway my decision...especially since the tubes are old...but someone here said they have the original tubes from a 60s or 70s amp and it sound fine....hmmm..

I am not worried about the weight b/c I would just keep it at my house.
$500 is not representative. $250 is a lot closer to reality for good glass. The tubes are not that old if they're a year old. I gigged my SVT hard for 3 years before I replaced the tubes.

tubes can last decades. i've got a 73 super reverb with the original power tubes still in it, and i've run that amp quite hard at times. my motto for tubes is replace only when necessary, and only the ones that are needed, with the exception of power tubes, which i'll usually replace in a set just so they match.
