Alembics and parametric mid knobs scare me.

Southern Oregon
…yes, unfortunately. We can make this short and sweet- I recently moved to a house in small town Southern Oregon and I want an amp since I can actually play loud unlike in my Sacramento apartment.
My budget caps at around $1500.

I’m really interested in the GK Fusion S but the combo is a bit too overpriced I think.
(I prefer combos but a head/cab is great too.)

I do have preferences and biases, but I want the community’s input. If anything, I play a Dingwall that will soon be in drop G though I don’t play metal exclusively.

Thanks much.

What are the sounds you like? I wonder if a Legacy head and a 4ohm GK Neo 212 could do it for you. Do you get some of your tones via pedals?

The Neo II 212 is under $700 if you can find it in stock. I like modular stuff and my Sweetwater guy sold me a pair of 8ohm 112 Neo IIs for just over $800. I love 'em! Of course, going with a Legacy head could save you a few bones. Is the tube pre a necessity for you?

I wonder if they would make you a nice package deal on cab/s and a Legacy of Fusion S 500/800 head. Yea, the Fusion S combos don't really seem to be much of a deal at their new/current prices.

I prefer my Mesa cabs, but they are pricier and won't leave you much amp money. I like the separates because I can mix and match my Aguilar, Mesa, and GK stuff depending on venue/travel and tone/volume goals.

Happy hunting, and let us know what you choose!

You’re right. As of right now I’m pretty set on a Legacy 500 head, it’s not much different sound-wise from the Fusion S and is much cheaper.
For the cab I’m wanting to start out with a single 112. I’m currently looking at the Orange OBC-112 and the Genzler NC-112T.

Per your question, right now my ‘rig’ is just a Line 6 POD Go due to a recent downsizing. I’ve made presets that emulate the Mesa 400, GK Legacy, and SVT but my go-to is always the Legacy and SVT.

Are you looking for a tool or functional decor? What are you playing now and does it already do everything you need?

Is living-room-approved vibe a factor?
Mostly a tool. I don’t care much for appearances. I kinda want a set-and-forget type of amp that’s great for silent rehearsing and can be hooked up directly to a computer for recording. I have a Line 6 POD Go and while it is pretty simple and straightforward, I generally underuse it. I hate fiddling with knobs.
