Is This Normal?

Run. Run far away.

I think it's great that they tell you their expectations up front, but I think they're also telling you that they're total loons.

What I read from the ad is that they want to own your weekends. All of them. If your wife or kid gets sick, you gotta make their one practice and short session or you're OUT.

I don't give that to my day job; family comes first.

It'd make a lot more sense if they were a full-time band, with rehearsals 2-3 times a week and a couple of gigs on the weekends, or an out of town touring schedule.

That's a little stronger push-back than normal but yeah, there are probably more bands that don't want a hired gun than there are bands that do.

Showing up for the gig is pretty much a no-brainer.

Missing practice is a fact of life when 4 or 5 guys are involved. My keyboardist flagged practice before last. I don't know why or really care.

I flagged the last one because I have an abscessed tooth and am all pilled up and not about to dive anywhere.

I'm confident both of us will be at the gig Friday.

They said if you're a no-call no-show. I think you can miss practice, but you have to let someone know. I'm down with that.
