Is this too good to be true?

http://cgi.ebay.ca/2000W-8CH-Powere...ryZ23785QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

That price is insanely low. I'm not looking for pro-gear. Basement hacking and basement band rehearsal is what i need this for. I'll want to use it mainly for vocals and acoustic guitar at rehearsal, and sometimes for bass guitar as well (my bass amp head is busted.. a friend is trying to fix it). At home I'll want it for my acoustic guitar, bass, my crappy vocals, and drum mics for my own home recording.

The seller has very good feedback, including specifically on this product. But this just seems too good to be true. I think he's a dealer and not a retailer. Can't find anything of use about this brand on the net, other than the website of that guy selling them. I have e-mailed him so I'll see how he responds.

I live in Toronto. One other one I was considering was a Behringer PMH880S when I saw it on musiciansfriend for $249. I check around up here and it is $509 + tax at Long & McQuades and other stores. $509! So I started the eBay / craigslist hunt and found the above on eBay. (the behringer would be $65 shipping from musiciansfriend, plus some tax, plus duty, plus UPS brokerage fee.. the ebay seller is shipping USPS so there is no brokerage fee)

What do you guys think?

The seller rates it at 900w a side at 2ohm but the back of the amp seems to only say 4ohm so I would imagine that 450w a side at 4ohm is what it can really do without frying. For the price it looks like it might be worth a shot.

Thanks guys. I'm going to steer clear. A friend of mine fixed my amp head with just simple capacitor solder job. I didn't expect him to fix it this quick!

I'll just save up a bit more and get something better in a couple months, in the $500 - $600 price range. Perhaps a Yamaha EMX312 or EMX512.

HAVE YOU TRIED "HARMONY CENTRAL " ( USER'S REVIEW)?

Hi James. I saw the same eBay listing as you and was skeptical also. If you take out the space between "GVD" and "Audio" out and do another Google search you learn that the company started in 1999 and manufactures other PA equipment besides this board. Mailing address for the company is GTD Electronics Inc. 4115 Patterson Ave., Baltimore, MD. They claim to have annual sales between 1-2.5 million annually. To be in this business for 9 years they must be doing something right. I plan on taking a chance on on of these units myself.

I bought one of these mixers and was skeptical like you but it turned out to be a very good deal. I use it for playing my keyboards through at small to large gigs and it kicks butt. I use it with two Peavey PR 12's. I got the small 8 channel slider volume version with 450 rms a side. I have dropped 3 times from a 4 foot table with no casualties (i had a stand that kept letting me down).
Definetly worth looking at. I have a Behringer board and a Mackie and for the money this unit holds up.
