Is this type of bow even possible?

guy who bought it just message me a day later after buying and sends me those pictures below of the neck and the neck heel which looks like it's coming out of the pocket or been unscrewed
I have no idea how the bass got like that but it didn't leave my house like that. I always have my action low and play flats.
I have a stellar rating and would have never sold anything that looked like that

How are we to know the bass did not get shipped like that? All your photos are full frontals, making it impossible for us to know otherwise.

You have to work at it for months and even years to do that much damage to a neck, especially that hump at the heel - I don't see how all that could have happened in just one day ...

I don't think the necks bad. I sold the guy this bass worked when I left the house. He's textin me today tellin me the necks bowed like a surfboard I just don't think that's possible

My thoughts exactly. And there's no way a neck could bow like that over night without someone either losseninf the truss rod. Could over tightening and snapping the rod do the same thing?

Having done it, I can say that breaking a truss rod will give you a pretty awesome bow. Not saying he did, just that it can.

If you loosen the truss rod, the neck will bow like that. If you loosen the neck screws, the strings will come off the neck.

How did he pay for the bass? Credit card, Paypal, Cash, Zelle? If he paid cash or used Zelle, or Paypal friends & family, the buyer has no recourse. It is the same as if he paid cash. If he paid with Credit Card or PayPal Merchant you have a problem.

Thanks for the replies. He paid cash so it is what it is. I'm certainly not taking a bass that looks like that back. Just is ridiculous that he's accusing me of selling him something I knew was broken. I have a perfect record here and on reverb. I'd never do such a thing.

And if he tried anything on Reverb, I think he's SOL considering that he played it in person first. If he was saying the truss rod was broken or stripped and wouldn't adjust, something he couldn't have known until he attempted an adjustment, that's one thing.

He played it, he posted a video of him playing it, he paid cash for it, and walked off. It is what it is. Dude probably tried to mess with it and messed up instead.

Something doesn’t smell right here. I have that very bass 55-01 in maple. The necks on Laklands are like rocks and I have never needed to tweak mine. They also have two graphite rods in them. Something isn’t right here for sure.
