An aquaintence has a Fender Jazz bass SN N0017 made in USA, has a long crack in body through the tone and vol controls. What would you pay? is it worth a bargain price; neck and frets in good shape, has preamp in it.

The N indicates a 90's bass and with a crack through the control cavity it's a parts bass and worth very little.
I'd pay what a used neck goes for and what a box of loose electronics and hardware would sell for.....ie: not very much.

I'm pretty sure US Fender necks usually go for 300-500 bucks, I wouldn't pay a whole lot more than that. The body's not worth fixing in my opinion, when good replacements can be had for super reasonable prices regularly.
