I realized a few days ago that my bass (Epi T-Bird) is almost twice the price of my amp (Crate BT50 combo). And when I get a job, I'll probably be saving for an Acoustic rig (about $600) and a Highway One P-Bass (about $850). So, what's worth more, your main bass or your main rig?
My Lecompte is waay more expensive than my Carvin Rig. But I love the portability and sound of the rig. Sold more expensive gear and kept these.
my main bass Vintaged Aged Valenti($2000+) my amp Fender Bassman 250 2x10 ($600ish) So yeah my bass is worth quite a bit more then my amp.. LOL But I like that amp it sounds perfect flat and thats why I chose it. I am a true audiophile at heart and if I need to boost anything then its time to re-evaluate my gear.
I paid 4 times as much for my main amp( the power amp) as I paid for my main bass. To me it is not worth less tho.
Spector Legend 5 - I paid £350 for it Peavey Microbass - £80-ish but it came as part of a starter pack with my Peavey Milestone III so I didn't pay as much for it. I would really like a new combo or something, I'm starting to see the Microbass just doesn't cut it volume-wise or tone-wise, despite me loving it dearly.
i have 2 'main' amps, and my main bass is a warmoth parts build, so my answer isn't really cut and dry... when i played guitar, my guitars usually were worth more than my amps though
My whole amp rig is worth more than my bass. Hell, the head alone is worth as much as my bass. Early model Ampeg V4-B head, SWR Goliath 2x10 cab, Orange 15" cab > Fender Geddy Jazz bass
My bass is worth more. Am Std vs Laney RB4. About a 400 quid price difference. I plan on getting a GB Shuttle soon though, so things will be changing.
My bass (Warwick LX5) is probably worth a little more than my amp if you only take into account the preamp and power amp (Ampeg SVP-CL and Crown XTi2000), but if you throw in the rack bag, tuner, Furman PL-8 and SWR speaker cabs the amp is probably worth a little more. Does that balance them out? I'm confused as to whether there's a point to this.
Pedulla Rapture (PJ or JJ 5 strings) Worth.... $1000 each... Marshall DBS 7400/7200 worth about $1000 together... So.... Yes.
My bass cost/is worth more than my main amp by far. Sadowsky MS5 - About $2000 used Markbass F1 head - $900 new Ampeg 2x10 cab - $275 used Even if I add my Korg tuner, BBE Sonic Maximizer and Sansamp RBI rack gear, my bass is still more $$$ (all used and cost me a total of about $500).
No, for the first time in my life, my amp is worth more any one bass of mine. My Markbass 1x12 cost be $833 and my most expensive bass is used Cirrus that was under $700.
Amp and cab setup is worth way more than my bass right now. Something along the lines of 4 times as much, actually. Avatar 210 and 212 + GBE 750 is much greater than Ibanez BTB405QM.
Main bass Custom fretless 4-string $1600.00 I have two Amps. 2007 Ampeg V4BH- Ampeg 6x10 cab. The amp I use the most is my Ampeg B100R.
