Is your main bass worth more than your main amp?

Guess I ought to update my last post in this thread. Seeing as how I'm back to using my SX P as primary again for live work, and the new American Standard Fender as backup more often than not, I guess the old Sunn/Ampeg head/cab set up is worth a bit more, even though I paid very little for the head and cab.

In the studio the Vintage P still reigns supreme, so that one is worth quite a bit more than my amps.

Several times... My Birdsong Corto: About $2200. My Ashdown Electric Blue 180-15" I got for $225 used, but I think they go around $300 new... The Mag deep 210 extension cab I think I got for $175 as a blem. They go for around $300 new.

They sound pretty good together. But my bass sound seven better...

My main rig is worth just less than three times my main gigging bass.

But it is an unfair comparison since I bought the bass used, and most of the rig was new. And the rig is boutique (EA) while the bass is middle of the road (MIJ Fender).

My main bass is either a 71' P(paid 1,060--worth more like 3,000), 03' P (paid 750) or 04' J(paid 1000)

My main amp rig is Ampeg 810(x2)(paid 1400 for the pair) with an SVT Classic(1300) and an Aguilar Agro (250)

I would say amp.

I don't know whether that makes it right or wrong. I probably have about equal money all together in basses versus amps. They're both great things to buy and collect!
