The reason I ask is that I love Ampeg tone, but I hate tubes.

Too much work I don't need.

Have you tried Ampeg SVX?
It was ear tuned by some of the original Ampeg engineers.
May be too much work for a PC, but you can dial in any Ampeg model you'd want for any song.

I was hoping for at least one.

Anyway, yeah, the SVT name gets plastered on some amps that it shouldn't be on. But the SVT name sells, and that's what counts. Doesn't bother me...I can tell the real thing from the others

Agreed. Some of the responses by the "pros" in this thread sure weren't very "professional". Please keep it clean, folks.

I didn't meant to start such a fuss. I was just asking if any Ampegs were solid-state. I mean, honestly, I can't really tell a difference in tone between a tube amp or a solid-state. Maybe there is a difference, but I can't hear it. Plus I prefer solid-state just because it's what I've been with for so long. But my question has been answered. Thank you, TB.

Ampeg sounds awesome in tub or solid state form. I you go solid state, you can always get a tube preamp to spicen things up.
