Isolating an instrument?

Are there any programs or techniques to isolate a song to learn a particular instrument?

Ear training techniques are the best way. Computer programs probably exist but would only be a crutch.

Whilst I agree with Bearfoot, I think that I've heard of someone doing something similar with FL Studio. I may be wrong but it's somewhere to start if you're still looking.

A friend of mine used some software called Transcribe!. I don't really know much about it as I haven't used it much, but it's has a pretty good equalizer for removing different frequencies and chord/note recognition. Worth a try.
