Issues With Re-Stringing EBMM Basses Using Strings With Thread Wrapped Ends.........

Pretty blatently mentions nut issues.

Clamping Vise Grips onto the strings at the Tuners IMHO would potentially put a hard crimp in the strings and "potentially" create a weak spot at that point... which the person doing it would create.

I still just do not see how the string is going to repeatedly slip "then" break or move if simply bent (not crimped with pliers) and inserted into the Tuner slot, and then the string given 2 or 3 turns around the Tuning peg. Turning the strings from top of the tuner to bottom.

I have a special angle set of Vise-Grip needle nose pliers with no teeth. I also use a small piece of polishing cloth, and low crimping pressure on the string after is has several winds on the nut. I only use this technique sometimes to help set the string for final tune. The "knot style" wrap over is the easiest way to accomplish the same result, if you don't mind the way it looks on the tuner when you are done. It looks a little bulky, or messy.

Unless you are a Luthier by trade, I assure you that you don't have more tools for instruments than I do.............I actually have been repairing instruments for some years. As I stated before this thread was to see if anyone else ever encountered this situation with their newer EBMM basses. I have never had another brand of guitar or bass do this before............But I have found it takes a little finesse to get certain strings to work on some of my newer EBMMs!
