Even though songs like this are clearly funk, if they were played in discos and played by disco bands, then we might as well include them in this thread. I must admit that, as a long-time funkateer, it does have me a bit conflicted...
No reason to feel conflicted; we played a wide range of music in the "disco" bands I was in. Back then, it was all good music that worked well together for the audience/dancers.
Quality dance music from the 80s-Q Jones produced many Brothers Johnson hits
Whatever's going on there:
1) I like it;
2) I sincerely hope some kind of voodoo hex and/or Shakespearean witchery is at work.
