I think I posted a thread in the past (not the intro forum), asking about bass builders who also build guitars who are forward-thinking, since as a whole boutique bass builders do seem so compared to guitars.
I still am a guitarist, and am quite good - I think the easiest way to put it is no one would think to themselves "he should try another instrument, as the guitar isn't for him". In terms of bass, I actually got one (a cheap Rogue) when I was 11 and took some lessons, but my heart wasn't in it at the time, and I got frustrated with beginner's issues like struggling to not buzz incessantly because, compared to a guitar, the bass seemed too large and I had trouble extending my fingers enough to press down right at the edge of the fret etc. Then, around age 12-13 or so, I somehow discovered I could pick fast on guitar and/or tap so that sent me down the shred rabbit hole and led to me being a guitar player ever since. I actually sold the Rogue for a pizza to my friend in college haha, and have been bassless since.
However, earlier this week I had a dream, an actual dream as I slept, and it is a little bit hazy on the specifics, as the inherent illogicalness and disobeying the laws of physics dreams can be...but the gist of it was someone in the dream very clearly asking me "man, why did you quit playing bass? You were made for that".
So when I woke up, I at least have an inkling to maybe pick a bass up
even though I myself don't view this as any kind of destiny or anything haha.
