Yeah, I probably am missing the point completely.
I agree that you as a potential buyer have the right to ask any question that you like.
The seller has every right not to answer your question if they don't want to. Just because someone is selling something doesn't mean that they are obligated in any way to answer any and all questions.
And then as the potential buyer, if you feel that you haven't gotten all of your questions answered or don't like the seller or the way they conduct themselves you can either get upset or simply put an end to the dialog.
But no one on either side of the transaction HAS to do anything.

Fair enough.

Certainly makes it more difficult to sell stuff though.

Amp builders seem to have no problem listing a weight. Why not bass builders? It should be part of the specs! An accurate scale to get a hanging weight shouldn’t be a problem for a builder or a retailer for that matter

Amp weight will not vary like basses can. You wouldn't have to weigh each individual amp.

Weight. I always ask and a non-answer is a non-starter for me. Generally it is all polite. I have 2 shoulder separations and a little rotor cuff damage from skiing... no falls, no balls after all... I play in bands that will throw down a 3 hour set... 8.5 lbs is the absolute max I can swing for a long set and I’m happier with less. It’s part of pain management...

I've gone round and round on here with folks about that, but I'm not doing it today. I have my bad experience with bathroom scales & even the scales at GC.

I do use the bath scale method. Mine is pretty accurate but I always round up anyway...

It doesn’t matter why I like lightweight basses. Yeah, I have a medical condition which is my main reason for it. But what if I like the tone of a lightweight bass ? What if I just don’t want to have to stand there every single night, or at least 200 nights a year with a big heavy bass on my shoulder? What if I want to save shipping money on sending it later in the future if I sell it? Who cares why the reason I like a lightweight bass is ?

If I ask you how much your bass weighs and I’m looking to purchase it, Just answer the question. Don’t give me a hard time about it, don’t try and give me an excuse, just answer the question.

Just to point out that there are some weight saving measures... Install lightweight tuners can solve a neck dive and can trim almost 1lb off overall weight... rip off the BA or similar high mass bridge in favor of a bent plate can also pare down a bunch of weight (on a Fender derivative)... so of someone dangled the right priced Fender derivative at 9 to 9.5 lbs... I might still be seriously interested and tuner replacement might get me in the range I need...

More likely I’d just bite the bullet and call Marco for another flyweight custom P though ;-)
