I started out with an Epiphone custom shop Ripper PJ, but I just didn't like the PJ setup with the weak jazz pickup and the DiMarzio Split P. Decided on a dual reverse P setup using 2 DiMarzio Model P's and a 4 way rotary switch like the original Ripper's with the selector ring and all. This thing is a rock monster now. I'm very happy with how it turned out and the fact that I was able to make it work on the first try is even better.

I had to make a pickguard for it, but you can't notice many of the imperfections, unless you're looking for them, since everything is black. I still need to get speed knobs for the larger split shaft pots but other than that, it's all done. Thanks to everyone for the diagrams and advice.

I don't understand why there are not more double-p's out there. I just got this one a couple of months ago and totally agree, monster tone.

Great looking bass! Love Rippers/Grabbers, and that reverse double P setup must sound enormous.

Good choice of pick, as well! I love those purple Gator grips, whenever I use anything else they just feel strange to me

Yes, the Model P's are high output pickups alone, but two is awesome sounding.

And yes, the purple Gator Grips are great. I also like the green sharps.

May I suggest rounds and an amp that will be happy to be driven hard.
Maybe a tube Ampeg or Fender or an early G-K RB series?

Great take on the Ripper. I'd love to hear how the Ps compare to the Buckers on the Gibsons. You really made it a proper Ripper by adding the rotary selector. Did you have it wired to the same pickup and circuit choices as the Original Rs?

I have it wired neck solo, both series, both parallel, bridge solo. It's just volume and tone. The third knob is just a dummy knob so I wouldn't have to cut a new hole should I decide to do another wiring where I can use two volumes.

Just a project I've been working on and I finally got it all wired up and finished, no real context.

For reference, this is the photo I found online that made me want to do this, but it looks like they just have a toggle switch. I like the 4 way switch look better.
